Shows that pull off wins at the Tony Awards often see a post-award show bump at the box office and A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder and All the Way were two such shows, but weren't the only ones.
Comedy A Gentleman's Guide managed to pull in its strongest week to date with $851,262 in sales, reports The Associated Press. All the Way, which stars Bryan Cranston, was even stronger with $1,229,495 in box office sales.
Beautiful: The Carole King Musical managed to set a new house record of $1,170,050 at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre, while Rocky snagged $761,451 for the week after the awards program.
Alas, while those plays saw bumps, After Midnight wasn't as lucky, both at the box office and at the awards show. The musical pulled in only one win, in choreography, out of seven nominations.
Pinning hopes to Tony wins, the show, which has seen modest sales, only improved by a tiny margin and not enough to keep the curtains up.
The Dule Hill-led musical will close its curtains for the final time on June 29 after failing to negotiate a concession from unions.
Cabaret and Violet also didn't benefit from the Tonys. Cabaret was down $30,940 over the prior week to $731,192 and Violet followed with a larger $33,969 loss from week-to-week, down to $342,638.
