After authorities arrested an Arizona man for unlawfully discharging a firearm, he gave them quite an excuse for what he was doing.
According to the New York Daily News, Cameron Frank Read allegedly told officers that he was high and shooting at the moon.
His girlfriend, who reported the gunfire Friday night, said that Read thought he had saw Halley’s Comet and fired a round through the window of their home. At that point, the woman and her son ran out of the house.
KTVK reported that when Prescott Valley police arrived at the residence, Read did not want to come out of the home and when he finally did was confrontational with the officers. After some resistance, he was arrested and gave his unusual excuse about being high on marijuana and shooting at the moon.
He was taken to the local county jail and booked on suspicion of felony counts of unlawful discharge of a firearm, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and endangerment plus misdemeanor criminal damage.
