A 12-story structure collapsed in New Delhi, Indian late Saturday while workers were building it.

According to the Associated Press, two workers died on the spot and three others were taken to a hospital after they succumbed to injuries.

The building collapsed during heavy rains.

At least 16 people were reported dead.

26 construction workers were pulled out of the wreckage as police continued the search for others.

11 people have been rescued from the debris so far, reported CNN.

“Fifty workers were believed to be present at the construction site at the time of the collapse. Rescue operations are still on,” Police Commissioner Sebastian George said.

Earlier in the day, a four story building that was around 50-years-old collapsed and killed 10 people.

Building collapses in Indian are not an uncommon thing. Unauthorized construction, such as the building of extra floors without permits cause the dangerous conditions, an official with the New Delhi Municipal Council told CNN.
