Atlanta Braves pitcher Gavin Floyd re-injured is right elbow in a game against the Washington Nationals. The specific injury to Floyd was a broken bone. Floyd was pitching a two-hit shutout when he threw a curveball to Jayson Werth to start the seventh inning. After that point he began shaking his right arm.
"It was fine until that last pitch. I felt a pop. And it wasn't painful, at least," said Floyd, according to ESPN.
The injury was a bitter pill to swallow because it had been such a great night for Floyd and the Braves. The Braves improved to a 23-7 record in their past 30 games against the Nationals. This season they are 6-1 against them. Atlanta pulled to within a half-game of first-place in the National League East Standings, reported by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Floyd did not see this type of outcome happening. He says he has not felt this type of pain in his right elbow since he has had surgery on it. The steady improvements Floyd was feeling ended up turning into a situation were he was taken out of a close game.
"I felt like I was getting better and better, so it's definitely disappointing. Definitely not what I envisioned to happen. I haven't had any pain since the surgery," said Floyd, recorded by ESPN.
