The release of Army Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl has sparked controversy, with some calling him a traitor. The exchange which resulted in five Guantanamo Bay detainees being released is just the beginning.

According to The Fiscal Times, the unknown commander of the Taliban said that they will kidnap more Americans.

“It has encouraged our people. Now everybody will work hard to capture such an important bird,” the commander said.

In exchanged for Bergdahl, five Taliban commanders were released and sent to Qatar.

The debate which has sparked is whether Bergdahl willingly deserted his post in 2009.

Soldiers who served alongside Bergdahl are coming out and calling him a traitor.
According to CBS Baltimore, Kenneth Wortham, who served with Bergdahl, said the soldier willingly left.

“He talked to a lot of people in our platoon about wandering off in the mountains and being closer with the Afghani army and the Afghani police," Worthman said.

Worthman went on to express his anger of the situation, saying that many died looking for him.

Worthman is not the first of the soldiers who served alongside Bergdahl to come out and call him a traitor.
