While the Electronic Entertainment Expo is best known as a platform for companies to show off their latest video games, Sony used its panel to show off the first footage from Fury, the new World War II drama starring Brad Pitt and Shia LaBeouf.
Fury was directed by David Ayer (End of Watch) and centers on a U.S. tank team in 1945, during the final months of the war with Germany. They struggle to defeat the enemy together and build a rapport together. In addition to Pitt and LaBeouf, other members of the team are played by Jon Bernthal, Michael Pena, Scott Eastwood and Logan Lerman.
Sony showed a one-minute, 30-second featurette during its E3 panel. It features quick interviews with the cast and crew and offers behind-the-scenes glimpses at the shoot. Interestingly, one of the producers reveals that the film was shot using actual film stock, rather than digital cameras. In addition, they also stress that the film was shot using dollies, so don’t expect to see shaky, hand-held camera shots.
Fury is currently scheduled for release on Nov. 14.
