Hundreds of volunteers have gone to Pilger, Nebraska in order to help clean up the town after devastating twin tornadoes ripped through the town. One of those volunteers is rock star Bret Michaels.
Earlier this month, Michaels had a health scare and was recovering from the flu and exhaustion. Now, he is helping volunteers pick up the pieces of the town of 350 that has been devastated from the tornadoes.
E! News reported that Michaels and his band mates were taken to the site of Pilger Middle School to help with clean up on Monday. Michaels also went out of his way to sign autographs and give comfort to the residents of the town, as well as all the volunteers who came to help.
Upon seeing the damage, Michaels said, “It’s one thing to see it on TV. But when you actually get out here, it’s completely different.”
The Canadian Press reported Michaels and his band arrived on Monday and they were escorted to the school by the sheriff of Stanton County, Mike Unger.
As he looked through the damage, Michaels reportedly said, “I just got that lump. Thinking about the children in this town, it takes your breath away.”
