The road to bringing Ant-Man to the big screen has certainly been a bumpy one, to say the least. Since Edgar Wright's departure, the film has been bouncing between seemingly every director in Hollywood to try to get them to make the new Marvel film, to no avail.
Well, they may not have anything to confirm yet, but they seem to have a new frontrunner at least: Peyton Reed.
TheWrap got the exclusive on the supposed news for Marvel. Much like the other choices for the job, it appears that they are looking for a director with comedy experience more than anything else. With a resume that includes box-office hits like The Break-Up, Bring it On and Yes Man, Reed at least is familiar with working on successful films.
Also on the shortlist at one point was Adam McKay (Anchorman), who turned the job down, as well as Rawson Thurber (Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story) and Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland), who, according to TheWrap's report, lost interest in taking the job once it was revealed that they were second-pickings behind McKay.
Reed is supposedly working on films such as The Fifth Beatle and the TV movie Ellen More or Less. What process they are at, and what will happen to them if Reed does accept the job, will have to be determined later when more details become public.
It should be noted that TheWrap only reveal to their source as "an individual familiar with the project," while also writing that representatives for both Marvel and Reed have declined or failed to respond to these reports.
