A 24-year-old man died Saturday, June 21, after attending the Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas the previous night.
The California man, who has been identified as Montgomery Tsang, was taken to University Medical Center and was pronounced dead at 6:12 a.m., according to the Las Vegas Sun.
Initial reports suggested that Tsang collapsed in the Las Vegas Motor Speedway parking lot, but the coroner has not released the cause of death.
Insomniac Inc., the L.A.-based promoter, released a statement Saturday afternoon in which spokeswoman Jennifer Forkish confirmed that Tsang had attended the festival Friday night, and that the event would continue through Monday, as originally scheduled.
"Today we learned some very tragic news, that after attending the festival a guest of the show has passed away. We are deeply saddened by this news, and hope that everyone will join us in keeping his family and friends in their thoughts during this very difficult time," read the statement. "Dance music fans pride themselves in being part of a loving community and, as we get ready to start the second night of the show, we ask everyone to help us keep this event safe."
The event was founded in 1999, says The Los Angeles Times, and since then has grown into a nationwide level. The event moved to Las Vegas in 2010 after a 15-year-old girl overdosed on Ecstasy and died.
In 2012, two people died in connection to the festival. One was a 31-year-old man who was hit by a car as he was leaving the hospital. The other was a 22-year-old woman who fell out of a hotel window and whose family stated she had taken Ecstasy at the festival.
