A Riverside, California woman accidentally drove over and fatally injured her father who was trying to keep her from getting behind the wheel after drinking Friday night.

While refusing to listen to reason, 37-year-old Soukvilay Barton started to back out of the garage and struck her 69-year-old father, Bounmy Rajsombath, who refused to get out of her way, reports The Associated Press.

He passed away shortly after arriving at Riverside Community Hospital.

Barton was said to have been drinking during the night and after getting into an argument with her family, she decided to try and leave, which is when Rajsombath tried to keep his daughter from making a mistake by driving while under the influence.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Barton was arrested by police at the scene, where she remained after it became clear to her that she had hit him with her car.

She is currently charged with suspicion of DUI, with more charges coming.
