A group of nuns in suburban Chicago have filed a lawsuit against a nearby strip club for disturbing their peace and prayer.
According to NBC Chicago, the Missionary Sisters of St. Charles Borromeo, contend in their suit that the adult entertainment establishment, Club Allure, violates a state law that prohibits such clubs within close proximity to schools or places of worship.
The Chicago Sun-Times reported that the suit alleges that the go-go bar has broken the zoning law, which mandates a 1,000-foot buffer zone between the establishment and the convent.
The nuns complained that they have been exposed to and had to put up with public drunkenness, fights, litter and other bad behavior they claim has went on.
The suit goes on to allege that the loud music is also a major disruption in the sister’s daily lives.
"Our sisters' sacred space has been invaded," said Sister Noemia Silva. "At night now they hear the music when they're praying. That's uncalled for."
The owner of Club Allure believes that the nuns only filed the suit because they are not fans of any strip club, especially one that is adjacent to their convent.
