A video has surfaced of a Chinese woman allegedly burning her husband’s mistress alive in the middle of the street before she herself attempts suicide.

According to Shanghiist, the woman surnamed Shi, was captured on video allegedly killing her husband’s mistress on Friday by dousing her with gasoline and then lighting her on fire. The video, which is graphic in nature and may not be suitable for all viewers, was uploaded to the internet on Sunday.

The incident occurred outside of a teahouse in Kunming, the capital of Yunnan Province in Southwest China. Nanfang reported that the owner of the establishment, Mr Liu, said that Shi confronted the woman about the alleged affair and accused her of seducing her husband.

In the video footage, it appears that the suspect ignites the fire and then runs away before being set ablaze herself.

Witnesses tried to save the woman, but there were no fire extinguishers around.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Shi then tried to commit suicide in a failed attempt by drinking pesticides and cutting herself with a knife. She is in serious condition and under supervision at a hospital.

Police are continuing to investigate.
