San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and two other NFL players have been cleared of any wrongdoing in an April incident involving a woman in a Miami hotel.
The woman said that Kaepernick followed her into a bedroom and began kissing her before he started to remove her clothing, as TheCelebrityCafe reported.
The Miami-Dade County State Attorney’s office sent out a memo explaining there was not enough evidence to charge any of the players with a crime according to an Associated Press report.
Ed Griffith, a public information officer for the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s office, spoke to USA Today about the incident.
“The key issue to really clarify, because a lot of people have been screwing this up are talking about charges being dropped. That’s untrue,” he said. “Charges were never filed. The woman came to the cops and said she may have been sexually assaulted. So that was viewed as a complaint.”
After investigating the complaint, the police found that there was no evidence to move forward with the case.
Neither Kaepernick nor the other players associated will be charged.
