Common is known in the entertainment industry for his many talents which range from being a chart topping musician to a famous actor but now it seems that he is going to focus on music for a while. Common has inked a deal with Def Jam record and is already announcing when his next studio album, Nobody’s Smiling, will be available for fans to purchase.

MTV reported that the new album will be coming out on July 22nd of this year on Def Jam records.

The first single off of Nobody's Smiling, "Kingdom," was released last week. The album is said to have a strong influence on the current uprise in violence that is happening in Chicago, which is the hometown of Common.

Common released a statement that he was honored to be joining Def Jam records and is excited for fans to hear his new music.

"Creating this album and signing to Def Jam feels like a new beginning for me. I feel like a new artist because I created this album with the purpose to give back to my city and to the culture of hip hop. Def Jam is part of the foundation of hip hop and being able to work with No I.D. was returning to my foundation now with new energy and new hunger," said Common.

Complex added that it has been three years since fans have heard new music from Common. He released The Dreamer/The Believer back in 2011.
