Tight end Dallas Clark will retire with the Indianapolis Colts on Wednesday. The Colts announced Clark’s retirement on Monday.
Clark was a first-round pick for the Colts in 2003. He played for the Colts for nine seasons. In those nine seasons he broke the career records for a tight end with the Colts for receptions (427) and touchdown catches (46). He is second in team history in yards receiving (4,887) and 100-yard games (seven), according to the Associated Press. Clark also set Colts single-season records with 100 receptions and 1,106 yards in 2009 and 11 touchdown catches in 2007.
"It's an honor I can't even explain," Clark told the Colts website. "It's amazing just the love and support I have for the Colts and fans, but to see it come back toward me (is humbling). For the Irsay family and Colts family to do this is an honor, something I can't thank anyone for enough. It's so special I can't even express how awesome it is."
After the 2011 season Clark was released by the Colts. In 2012 he played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and last year he played for the Baltimore Ravens. In the last two seasons he had 78 receptions and seven touchdowns. In his 11 year career Clark had 505 catches for 5,665 yards and 53 scores, according to CBS Sports.
Clark is only the second player in Colts history to re-sign with the team and retire. Center Jeff Saturday was the other player to do it. The Colts were 84-31 when Clark played and he was part of seven division championship, two conference championships, and won one Super Bowl.
