After immense success found with actress Jennifer Lawrence in his last two films, Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle, it is no surprise that writer/director David O. Russell would want to grab the star for a third go-around in his next film, Joy. While it is uncertain if she will be making the return, 20th Century Fox has nevertheless set the movie for a Christmas 2015 release.

The news of the film's newfound release date was announced on Exhibitor Relations' Twitter page, as found by Rope of Silicon, as they tweeted the following last night, "Fox will release David O. Russell's JOY on Christmas Day 2015."

Russell announced his plans to make this movie back in January, with him rewriting the screenplay by fellow Academy-award nominee Annie Mumolo (Bridesmaids).

The film will tell the story of Joy Magano, a struggling Long Island single mom of three who turns into one of the country's most successful entrepreneurs upon inventing the Miracle Mop.

While Lawrence is not officially confirmed for the part, Russell has said in the past that she is his first choice. It's not hard to believe that Lawrence would want to come back to work with the filmmaker, as the man has lead her to not one, but second Oscar nominations—one of which letting her take home the gold. But, based on how busy she is of late, one can imagine that she may just be too busy to pick up the project.

Currently, she is filming her final commitments to The Hunger Games series, Mockingjay: Parts 1 & 2. After that, though, she also has her obligations to X-Men: Apocalypse, as well as to Gary Ross' East of Eden and to the adaptation of The Glass Castle, to name a few. Whether or not she will be able to sign on to the film should be announced relatively soon.
