Demi Lovato’s father passed away exactly one year ago on June 22. The singer remembered her father by posting a photo college on Twitter.

Lovato posted black and white photos of her father and herself when she was a child.

According to theDaily Mail, Lovato’s father, Patrick Lovato, passed away after battling cancer.

“Can’t believe it’s already been a year.. Wish I could’ve hugged you one last time.. RIP Daddy, I love you,” Lovato tweeted.

Lovato and her father had a strained relationship after her mother and he divorced, reported the Mirror.

“I’m handling it okay, my father and I didn’t have the most ideal relationship. But at the end of the day, he’s still my dad and I grew up with him and he’s a wonderful person. It’s difficult…I’m handling it okay,” Lovato said after his death last year.

Lovato was raised by her stepfather and mother when her parents split in 1994.
