There was movement on Wednesday on Sony and Overbrook Entertainment's Karate Kid 2 as Breck Eisner exited as director and Jeremiah Friedman and Nick Palmer were tapped to work on the script.

Deadline is reporting that Eisner had to leave the sequel to the surprise hit, which starred Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan, due to schedule conflicts, leaving the film in search of another director.

While one person has left the project, another two have joined. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Friedman and Palmer will now have the task of punching up a script which previously was in the hands of Zak Penn and the writing duo Ethan Reiff and Cyrus Voris.

Friedman and Palmer don't have any films to their names actually produced yet, but have several scripts in the works for several other studios. Warner Bros is looking to film Family Getaway, Columbia is developing Secretaries Day, while Universal is moving forward on Speeding Bullet.

The first Karate Kid with Smith grossed $343 million at the worldwide box office back in 2010.
