Director of Marvel's upcoming Doctor Strange film has been tapped to helm an adaptation of The Outer Limits television series.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, who first learned the news, Derrickson will team up with C. Robert Cargill to write the script.
Derrickson, who is known to be a fan of the 1960s series that was similar to The Twilight Zone, plans on adapting the popular episode "Demon With a Glass Hand," which was originally written by Harlan Ellison.
The episode was about man who has a computerized hand and is unable to remember anything past the previous 10 days and finds out he is being hunted by an alien race and he is actually from the future.
The Outer Limits ran from 1963 to 1965 on ABC and also ran in 1990s on the Sci-Fi Channel and Showtime.
Earlier in June it was announced that Derrickson would be directing Marvel's adaptation of Doctor Strange, which is part of Marvel's third phase and likely won't see a release until after 2015's Avengers 2: Age of Ultron.
He does have Deliver Us From Evil, which stars Eric Bana and Olivia Munn, out in theaters on July 2.
