Don Johnson is finally opening up about his daughter, Dakota’s, role in the controversial film adaption of E.L. James’ Fifty Shades of Grey.

While most people are unsure of how the film will play out, Johnson is confident in Dakota’s acting abilities and maintains that this is just one of many powerful roles coming her way.

When asked if he had read the steamy romance novel, he replied, “I don’t know anything about it. This isn't something I would go out and buy and read anyways. This isn't on my bucket list. I read The Story of O in the sixties so I think I'm up to speed."

Dakota nabbed the eagerly anticipated role of Anastasia Steele back in September.

"I can tell you this: Dakota is a gifted, gifted actress," he told the Huffington Post. "And this will be a blip in a long line of parts where she kills it. She is the authentic article and I am exceedingly proud of her."

Johnson stars alongside Jamie Dornan in the possibly NC-17 rated film.

Filming for Fifty Shades of Grey began late last year and the project is currently in post-production. The trailer will reportedly be released in September and the film will premiere on Valentines Day 2015.
