On July 11, the sequel to 2011's Rise of the Planet of the Apes to be making its way into theaters in the form of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Although expectations are high, in a summer that is—once again—filled with ups-and-downs, fans are naturally wondering if this new film will live up to their hopes. Well, if these first handful of Twitter responses are to be believed, they are in for something truly special.

A collection of journalist have gotten the chance to see the movie, and, while they can't quite respond with how they feel about the movie just yet, they have gotten the permission to release their brief first opinions, as collected by Collider.

Speaking of Collider, this is what their founding editor had to say about the movie:

It should be noted here that Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) took over directing duties from Rupert Wyatt, something that made some intentionally worried knowing that the person who made the original so good wouldn't be involved.

Moreover, here are some more early response from Badass Digest's Devin Faraci, Film School Reject's Jack Giroux and Shock Till You Drop's Ryan Turek.

Finally, Comingsoon.net's Silas Lesnick's tweet is probably the most enthusiastic and, therefore, the most exciting for fans.

The biggest takeaway from these reactions seems to be the highly favorable responses to Reeves' direction, Giacchino's score and the movie's attention to character in connection to its special effects. These responses even make it seem like this movie is going to be better than the first one. While actor Gary Oldman's interview with Playboy
may or may not have effected the movie's promotions, these encouraging words should make sure that audience members race out to see this movie this July.
