A company called Elio Motors claims that it has engineered a car that will get 84 miles per gallon and will cost just $6,800.
CNN Money noted that Elio is promising that these cars, which have no new auto technology, will have a five-star crash safety rating.
The company’s founder, Paul Elio, said that the vehicle is not intended to replace the traditional family car.
"We want to be an 'and' not an 'or'" he said.
The unconventional car, which the company says will allow drivers to travel 672 miles on one tank of gas, comes with AC/Heat, AM/FM Stereo, three airbags, power windows and more for the low price tag.
Company executives said that they can keep the cost down and the sticker price low by keeping things standard and the manufacturing process simple. The vehicle will not be built with any options, however, options can be added later.
Oh and it should be mentioned that the car only has three wheels.
