A Florida woman is wanted on federal charges for kidnapping her child.
According to The New York Daily News, Megan Everett, 22, kidnapped her two-year-old daughter, Lily. Everett shared custody of the child with the girl’s father, Robert Bauman.
In a letter to the federal court, Everett said she took her daughter because she feared Bauman would get the girl vaccinated and ‘brainwash’ her.
“If I let them take her and vaccinate her and brainwash her, I wouldn’t be doing what’s right. I cannot let a judge tell me how my daughter should be raised,” Everett said.
According to The Sun Sentinel, Everett’s mother, Pam Everett, believes that her daughter’s sudden paranoid behavior comes from her recent relationship with a man named Carlos Lesters, a gun aficionado who believes in the way of the Southern Confederacy.
Since connecting with Lesters, Everett has adopted his views and has stated that she wishes to homeschool her daughter in the way of the Southern Confederacy and to exclude teaching her black history, instead of sending her to preschool and a judge noted how troubling Everett’s new beliefs were.
“It is however a troubling issue to the Court when the parties’ two year old child is living in a home with a mother and her boyfriend where the boyfriend carries a gun on his person throughout the day and where there are numerous other weapons and ammunition stored in the household,” Judge Steven Feren wrote.
Pam Everett and Robert Bauman are both hopeful for the safe return of two-year-old Lily while authorities search southern states for the girl and her mother.
