Gavin O’Connor, the director of Warrior, will helm the film Massacre in the Himalayas.

The film will follow a group of mountain-climbers who are attacked by Pakistani terrorists while attempting to scale the K2 summit. The story is based on real-life events and was covered in a feature by Freddie Wilkinson in Men’s Journal. Ten climbers and a Pakistani cook were ultimately killed in the attack. Climber Zhang Jingchuan was the only survivor.

ComingSoon.net said that O’Connor most recently took over directing duties for Jane Got a Gun. The film’s previous director, Lynne Ramsay, notably left the film’s production. Jane Got a Gun stars Natalie Portman, Ewan McGregor and Joel Edgerton and will be released on Feb. 20, 2015. Edgerton previously collaborated with O’Connor in Warrior.

Gianni Nunnari of Hollywood Gang Productions will be co-producing the film with O’Connor, Variety reported. Nunnari has previously produced 300, 300: Rise of an Empire and Immortals. A screenwriter has not yet been hired.
