General motors announced that the company is recalling 512,000 Camaros because of an ignition switch glitch.
CNN Money reported that the reason for the new recall is similar to the flawed ignition switch issue in the Chevrolet Cobalts that have been tied to at least 13 deaths.
The Associated Press noted that recall is for all Chevy Camaros from the 2010 to 2014 model years.
The company said that a driver’s knee could hit the key and knock the switch out of the "run" position, which will then cause the engine to stall. The major danger is that the driver could end up losing control of the vehicle because that knocks out the power steering and brakes.
The switch problem has reportedly contributed to at least three accidents.
Recently, it came to light that GM waited 10 years to recall a problem like this with the Cobalts. Now, the auto-maker is wasting no time responding to the new reports.
"Discovering and acting on this issue quickly is an example of the new norm for product safety at GM," said Jeff Boyer, vice president of GM Global Safety.
Letters will be sent out to owners advising them to visit their dealers and get a new key made.
