Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg underwrote a demonstration for stricter gun control laws today on the Brooklyn Bridge.

Around one thousand demonstrators marched from downtown Brooklyn across the bridge to City Hall, according to the Associated Press. There, they protested, “Not one more,” the cry let out by Richard Martinez, whose son was shot and killed in Santa Barbara last month.

Among the protesters were relatives of some of the victims of the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Speakers at the march included Shannon Watts, who founded Moms Demand Action, actress Amanda Peet, and Erica Lafferty, whose mother was the principal of Sandy Hook, and was killed in the shooting. These individuals demanded from the crowd, and the government, a fight for harsher federal gun laws.

Though Bloomberg was not in attendance, he financed a number of organizations that ran the march, such as Moms Demand Action and Everytown for Gun Safety.
