Harley Davidson, the lead motorcycle manufacturer in the U.S. is introducing its first electric motorcycle.
They are calling it “Project LiveWire,” according to The Verge. Harley Davidson is inviting the public to try it out.
Though the company is not releasing much information about the bike, they have said that it creates an amazing sound and can go from zero to 60 in four seconds.
The product is not yet for sale, but has been opened for testing. The company wants to know its customers expectations when it comes to an electric motorcycle.
The company will kick off a tour on June 24 around the U.S. to let people try the bike out and offer their opinion. The tour will begin in New York City. Harley Davidson says that they hope to expand the tour to Canada and Europe next year.
The Associated Press reported that Harley Davidson will be demonstrating the new product at an invitation-only event in New York. The company will be using the feedback it receives on the tour in order to refine the bike. The electric motorcycle may not be on the market for several years once the tour is over.
“America at its best has always been about reinvention,” said Harley-Davidson President Matt Levatich, “And, like America, Harley-Davidson has reinvented itself many times in our history, with customers leading us every step of the way."
