Undeniably one of the most publicized new TV shows of the summer is The Leftovers, Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof's return to television on HBO. While the pilot premiered last night, those who didn't get the chance to tune in can still get a chance to check the show out, as the pilot has just been released online by the station.

Yahoo is where the pilot was released. This is not the first time that the station has done this, as a similar practice was done just earlier this year with the pilot for Mike Judge's Silicon Valley and the first two episodes of Girls season 3. The station is hoping that audiences are able to get acquainted with the show, so that they will keep watching in the future.

Initial responses to the new show have thus far been mixed-to-positive, with some TV critics, like Todd VanDerWerff, praising the show, while others, like Mark A. Perigard of The Boston Herald panning the show. Responses from other sites range everywhere in-between, but most seem to believe that the show could be the start of something very interesting.

The Leftovers is based on the book of the same name by Tom Perrotta, who also serves as a co-producer on the show.
