It has been nearly two years since there has been any news on the planned biopic of MLB slugger Josh Hamilton, but finally, there is some news on who might play him. Jack Reynor is reportedly Relativity Media’s top pick to star in the Casey Affleck-directed film.

Back in June 2012, when Hamilton was still on the Texas Rangers, it was first reported that Affleck was signed to direct the film, which will mark his directorial debut. Then, in November 2012, Deadline confirmed that the project landed at Relativity Media.

Now, Deadline is reporting that Relativity has its eyes on Reynor to play Hamilton. Reynor recently appeared in What Richard Did and can be seen this weekend in Transformers: Age of Extinction.

According to TheWrap, the project has not been given the green light. Reynor is Affleck’s top pick and if he can sign the actor, Relativity will probably give it the go-ahead.

The film will be titled Miracle Shot and will be based on Beyond Belief: Finding The Strength To Come Back, which Hamilton co-wrote. Hamilton’s amazing story is ripe for filming, as he overcame addiction to come back to baseball in 2007. Hamilton lead the Rangers to two World Series appearances and then joined the Los Angeles Angels in 2013.
