Jack White has outsold every other act that released a new album this week by a large margin. His latest effort Lazaretto secured the No. 1 spot on the Billboard's album chart Wednesday. Lazaretto marks the second solo album from White, who was formerly a member of the White Stripes.
Billboard reported that the album sold 138,000 copies in its first week.
Lazaretto is the follow up to his first solo album, Blunderbuss, which sold around the same number of copies when it was released back in 2012.
This second solo album also set a record for the largest sales week for a vinyl album since that charts starting keeping track of those sales back in 1991. The album was released on White's Third Man Records label through Columbia Records.
The LA Times added that the vinyl version of Lazaretto sold 40,000 copies on vinyl.
White is currently out making many tour stops in promotion of his latest musical effort and will be playing England's Glastonbury Festival next week. After that performance he will be heading to Southern California for a brief run of shows at the Fonda Theatre, the Mayan and Pomona's Fox Theater.
