Kanye West made his return to the Bonnaroo stage over the weekend was not welcomed by fans. Graffitied variations in various places throughout the festival including, bathrooms, walls, crow barriers, featured the words “F–k Kanye” but regardless of the negative atmosphere West took to the stage on time for his 10 p.m. slot in front of a crowd of over 90,000 by the end of the performance.
Entertainment Weekly reported that the set design that was featured on the Bonnaroo stage was a scaled down version of what was featured on his “Yeezus” tour.
It appeared that his performance might not feature any rants but about halfway through his set and took place during his outro for “Heartless.” West yelled at the audience asking, “Where the press at? F–k the press!”
The press was not a large percentage of the audience; most of the attendees in the audience were fans. That was not the last of the West rant. He went on to talk about his work ethic and his craft, explain that he was “humbled in a way that gave him strength” and that this was only the start of his career at his age of 37. He concluded his sermon by saying that he was the No. 1 rock star on the planet.
When his speech ended he was met with loud boos and fans even started walking away from the stage, Rolling Stone added.
