Karen O, lead singer of the band Yeah Yeah Yeah's, has announced that she will release a solo album.

The album is titled Crush Songs, which she wrote about her past fall outs of love.

"When I was 27 I was crushed a lot. I wasn't sure I'd ever fall in love again," she said on her website, USA Today reports. "These songs were written and recorded in private around this time. They are the soundtrack to what was an ever continuing LOVE CRUSADE. I hope they keep you company on yours."

Karen O has also written songs for director Spike Jonze, including the soundtrack for Where The Wild Things Are and 'The Moon Song' for the film Her, which was nominated for a Oscar.

The album was recorded in 2006 and 2007, around the time Yeah Yeah Yeah's released their hit second album, Show Your Bones, according to Yahoo! Music. It will be released under Cult Records.

Crush Songs is set for release on September 9, and also a vinyl-only special edition released beforehand, which will include drawings and hand-written lyrics.
