Katy Perry has always been open about her personal life to her fans through her music but she is now speaking on the record regarding her high profiled relationships including her ex-husband Russell Brand and John Mayer. In the July issue of Cosmopolitan, Perry discusses that she has always been attracted to high-frequency men.

E! Online reported that Perry spoke openly about her relationship with Brand that she has now put in the past. "It feels like a hundred lifetimes ago, so it's like digging up an old grave. A lot of therapy has happened and a lot of understanding and growth," said Perry.

She went on to say that she had to go through the ups and downs of that relationship in order to learn what she really wanted out of life and love. "You have to go through the mud in order to find that peaceful place. In the long run, it was necessary for me to have more of a teammate," Perry detailed.

The "Birthday" singer was not as open about her high profiled relationship with John Mayer. She said that at this moment in time they are not planning to get back together and that she is currently living in the now but fans can plan to hear about this on and off again relationship through Perry's music.

"I have a lot of respect for [John] still, and I know it goes both ways," she says. "There's no bad blood, but I'm sure there will be inspired songs."

Mayer is also opening up to the press saying that it doesn't impact him when songs are written about him, LA Times added.
