Singer and songwriter Lana Del Rey has recently hit success and fame again, releasing her third album Ultraviolence in June and covering songs for movies such as ‘Young and Beautiful’ for The Great Gatsby and ‘Once Upon a Dream’ for Maleficent. However, she does not seem to really enjoy the fame.
In a recent interview with The Guardian, Del Rey expressed her feelings on her life.
“I wish I was dead already.”
Interviewer Tim Jonze asked her why she said that, and she replied with, “I don’t want to have to keep doing this. But I am.” She explained that by ‘this’ she means everything. Del Rey went on to say that she is not thrilled with her life as a pop star and constantly feels targeted by critics. She shared that her computer was hacked in 2012, revealing personal information, pictures, health records and unfinished songs meant for her Ultraviolence album.
But even with all of the negative attention focused on Del Ray The New York Times reports she has found one silver lining, her fans. “The audience has been an unexpected well of comfort that I’ve dipped into recently.” Perhaps the fans enthusiasm in her music will trigger happier feelings.
