After seven years of career highs and unfortunate career lows, Leona Lewis has exited Sony’s Syco record label.

The Mirror has reported that she left to sign with Sony's rival, Universal's Island records. After winning The X Factor, Lewis’ first single “Bleeding Love” became an international hit and was one of the top five selling songs of the decade. Its parent album, Spirit, was also a huge success and became the world’s sixth best-selling album of 2008.

Her second album, Echo, was a moderate success only peaking in the top twenty in nine countries and going two-times platinum in the U.K, which was a slump compared to Spirit, which went ten times platinum. Her third album, Glassheart, was a flop and wasn’t even released in the U.S.

Digital Spy reported that Lewis is happy about the transition. "Island stands for quality music and signing with such a legendary label is really like a dream come true for me. I can't wait to start making music with my new team," the singer said in a statement.
