Eddie Redmayne and his longtime girlfriend Hannah Bagshawe are now engaged, the actor's rep revealed Monday.
Redmayne, who played Marius in the latest adaptation of Les Miserable, was the one who proposed, his rep confirmed with Us Weekly. He asked for her hand in marriage while they were on vacation during Memorial Day weekend.
A source claimed that the 32-year-old had been preparing to ask Bagshawe for some time. "They have a very relaxed and supportive relationship ... they seemed to have always known they were going to spend the rest of their lives together."
Another source noted that Redmayne even went so far as to secure Bagshawe's father's permission before popping the question.
He previously spoke with People about what he looks for in a potential girlfriend and along with saying someone who is comfortable "in their skin" and has "a proper sense of individuality," he also wanted a woman who had no problem helping him get dressed.
The reason: "I'm color blind." Redmayne continued, "When I go out to premieres and events, I have to check with my girlfriend that the trousers match the top. I recently wore a blue suit -- and I had to ask her if it was really blue rather than purple. ... I could not tell the difference."
