Linkin Park is set to headline MTV's first fan festival and award show that will be taking place at Comic-Con.
Billboard reports that MTV is going all in when it comes to Comic-Con, which will be taking place in July. The network will be expanding their presence at the event and are including Linkin Park to headline their main event, which includes a kick off concert and The mtvU Fandom Awards.
The kick off concert event will be taking place on Thursday, July 24, at San Diego's Petco Park. The event that will feature Linkin Park will lead into the awards and will be open to Comic-Con badge holders. On Sunday, July 27 at 8 p.m., on the last day of Comic-Con, MTV and mtvU will air the 60-minute mtvU Fandom Awards special, MTV announced.
The award show is being described as "ultimate celebration for die-hard fanboys and fangirls."
Ryan Kroft, mtvU Fandom Awards executive producer, explained why MTV wanted to have a larger presence at Comic-Con this year and what fans can expect if they watch the show this year.
"The mtvU Fandom Awards will reinvent the traditional award show format. In addition to handing out trophies, we will recognize the achievements of fans and their favorite obsessions with special surprises and experiences. It’s the perfect event to reward the fans at Comic-Con, the epicenter of all fandoms," said Kroft.
