Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o is joining the cast of J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode VII.
Along with posting a picture of the Star Wars logo on Instagram, the Twelve Years a Slave actress tweeted, “I can finally say it out loud and proud: I'm going to a galaxy far far away!”
Also joining the Star Wars: Episode VII cast is Game of Thrones’ Gwendoline Christie, according to Entertainment Weekly.
"I could not be more excited about Lupita and Gwendoline joining the cast of Episode VII,"
said Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy in a statement according to CNN. “It's thrilling to see this extraordinarily talented ensemble taking shape," Kennedy continued.
Other cast members include John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow. Along with these new cast members, two original cast members are reprising their roles from the original 1977 film – Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford.
Star Wars Episode VII is set to be released December 18, 2015.
