Fox and producer Simon Kinberg have moved forward on their production of the Magic: The Gathering film by signing Bryan Cogman to write the film based on the popular card game.
While Kinberg and Cogman may not be household names, you are most likely aware of their products. Kinberg, according to The Escapist, “is best known as the writer/producer of the three most recent X-Men movies, and also [scripting] Disney's upcoming live-action Cinderella for Kenneth Branagh and Josh Trank's Fantastic Four reboot.”
Cogman, on the other hand, is known for writing several episodes of HBO’s Game of Thones, including, as noted by Marvel.com, for writing "The Laws of Gods and Men," featuring the trail of Tyrian Lannister. If anybody can create a serious, yet fantastical world for the world of Magic, Cogman is probably the best candidate.
While this is an interesting development, the actual film is some time away. The film has no official script, no director, and no cast.
