A North Carolina man was arrested for allegedly locking his three small children in a hot car on Wednesday while he went shopping.
According to WRAL, police charged Terrance Antonio Ford with child abuse after he allegedly left a six-year-old, a five-year-old and an infant locked in a minivan in the sweltering heat.
An arrest warrant showed that the temperature inside the car was 100 degrees.
The children were rescued after a passerby noticed them in the Raleigh parking lot around 11:30 a.m. and called the cops.
"I noticed they had a baby seat out on the ground and that's the first thing that popped in my head, that someone had left a kid in a car as hot as it is," said Marie Green who witnessed the children being taken out of the car. "Unbelievable somebody would still do that in this day and time."
Parents leaving their children in steaming hot vehicles has not been uncommon this summer and two children tragically died this past week after being left inside cars.
WNCN noted that Ford posted a $2000 secured bail and is due in court on Thursday afternoon.
