A Texas man says that he is fighting to be able to hang his American flag from the balcony of his apartment.

Duy Tran, a resident at The Lodge on El Dorado, told KHOU/CNN that his apartment manager came to him and asked him to take the flag down. Why, you ask?

The manager told him that his flag represented a threat to the Muslim community. The complex issued a statement saying that they are simply following protocol.

"What really stunned me is that she said it's a threat towards the Muslim community. I'm not a threat toward anybody," Tran explained.

When reporters tried to ask the apartment manager what was threatening, the manager had no comment.

According to The Washington Times Tran is refusing to take the flag down because it means so much to him.
“I’m going to leave my flag there, as an American, until she shows me proof that I don’t have the right to leave my flag there,” he said. “I have friends that died for this country.”

There are other patriotic symbols hanging from balconies in the complex. He does not plan to take the flag down. He says that this fight is the least that he could do.
