It’s not everyday someone can say lightning knocked them out of their boots, but Georgia resident Sean O’Connor can.

O’Connor was working in his yard and wearing steel-toed shoes when a bolt of lightning struck him, The Huffington Post reported.

The man was sent flying, leaving behind a pair of smoking boots.

“When I noticed my shoes were on the other side of the driveway and I heard the thunder, I realized it was lightning that had just hit me,” O’Connor said.

According to WSB-TV, O’Connor thought that a falling tree limb had struck him, but realized it was lightning when he smelled burning hair and had blood in his mouth.

O'Connor sent a picture of the burning boots to his wife who was not home at the time.

His wife rushed home and took him to the hospital.

O'Connor left the hospital with interesting news from the doctor that it could happen again.

“Out of all the lightning victims, she’s seen the majority of them end up getting struck more than once,” O’Connor said.
