Marvel President Kevin Feige opened up a little bit on progress with Ant-Man post-Edgar Wright and mentioned how Doctor Strange is doing during a question and answer session at CineEurope Europe event.
Despite the shakeup that resulted in Wright pulling out of Ant-Man as director and Peyton Reed eventually stepping in to helm the film, Feige said the film is still on target for its original 2015 release date.
"Ant-Man is still going to come out on 17 July, " Feige said, reports TotalFilm. "We start filming this August."
He explained that despite the Hot Fuzz director's departure, "much of the movie will still be based very much on" the original draft Wright and Joe Cornish wrote. "Adam McKay, a very good writer, is reworking parts of the script - not the entirety of the script."
Feige then explained the status of Doctor Strange, which is set to be part of Marvel's phase 3, which begins after the release of Avengers: Age of Ultron. He said that the character is one he has "been interested in for many, many years and that I've talked about in interviews for probably 14 years."
With Scott Derrickson on board to direct, Feige said casting will be done over the next couple of months and production will likely start next spring.
