Michael Keaton will star in the new film, Birdman.
In the film, a veteran actor who played an iconic superhero overcomes his ego and produces play. He is haunted by his past, and thinks to himself, “How did we end up here in this dump. You were a movie star, remember?” according to the Los Angeles Times.
It is a fine role for Keaton who has appeared in the films, Night Shift, Gung Ho, and the Batman movies.
The film also stars Edward Norton, Zack Galifianakis, Naomi Watts, and Amy Ryan. In the film, Keaton plays Riggan Thomson. The writer and director of the film is Alejandro González Iñárritu. He was born in Mexico City and was nominated for an Academy Award for his work on the film, Babel. He also directed Amores Perros, and 2010s Biutiful. According to Deadline, Alejandro González Iñárritu is also working on the Leonardo DiCaprio film, The Revenant which is due out in 2015.
The film, Birdman or (the Unexpected Value of Ignorance), will be in theaters on October 17 by Fox Searchlight.
