Authorities in New Jersey have said that a naked man allegedly punched a police officer and then tried to steal his patrol car on Tuesday.
According to NJ.com, Byron Neville, of Lindenwold, was charged with carjacking and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer after his encounter with Detective Christopher Sherrer.
CBS Philly reported that the officer said he was interviewing two suspects outside a condominium when a nude man rushed toward him and punched him in the face.
"He turned around to see what was going on and came upon a naked male who was sweating and out of breath, and he basically claimed that this is his neighborhood and the officer needs to leave," Police Chief Thomas Brennan said.
Before Sherrer was able to subdue the suspect, Neville continued his strange behavior by jumping into the officer's patrol car and trying to steal it. He was arrested after the unsuccessful carjacking attempt.
Police have not released a motive for the crimes, but said that the 28-year-old may have smoked marijuana laced with PCP prior to the incident.
