After a customer complaint on Friday, Nestle USA is recalling 10,000 packages of chocolate peanut butter ice cream that was incorrectly labeled as another flavor. Mislabeled as Haagen-Dazs Chocolate Chip ice cream (UPC of 74570-08400), the flavor is actually Haagen-Dazs Chocolate Peanut Butter ice cream, and the ingredient list does not identify peanuts as a result.
"People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to peanuts may run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consumer this product," the company said, as reported by The Chicago Trubine.
It appears that Delaware, Florida, Maryland, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, and District of Columbia have received these recalled projects, reports Mod Vive. The company is working with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as well as the Food Allergy Research & Education to alert consumers of the potential risk and investigate the incident.
It is recommended that consumers who purchased the product should visit the Haagen-Dazs website or call 800-993-8924.
