There have been a couple reports made about what DC and Warner Bros. are planning to cook up for the next couple years, up until 2018. But not a peep has been made about what is expected after that, until now, as word is being reported that a new Batman movie, starring Ben Affleck, is expected to be released in 2019.

Word began spilling about this potential new superhero movie on Latino Review. They revealed that the movie, currently titled The Batman, would be a stand-alone film, and would focus on Affleck's version of the character in the cowl.

Although it has not been officiated by anybody at Warner Bros. or DC, it would make sense. Right now, Affleck is in the midst of filming his version of Bruce Wayne/Batman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but will be moving on immediately after that to working on his fourth directorial effort, Live By Night, which, like Batman v Superman, is set to be released in 2016. While in post-production on that movie, however, Affleck will also be filming his part in Justice League. From there, he would move on to doing press for Batman v Superman, then Live By Night, then go on to work on The Batman if everything works out.

This date works in two different ways. One, it would allow the screenwriters to put together a script for the film and two, it would give Affleck the opportunity to direct the movie as well, if he wanted the job.

With DC's schedule up until 2018 basically confirmed, there seems to be no sign of a stand-alone Batman movie for at least a couple years. But, considering that he is still the prize jewel of DC's superheros, it would seem likely that Warner Bros would try to find a way to make him a star again. Especially if people really like what Affleck brings to the role under the cape.
