Dispatchers are trained to help calm crime victims and provide some assurance to callers, but one in Ohio has been accused of doing the opposite.

WSYK reported that the Columbus operator took a frantic call on Sunday from a woman who said a man burglarized and forced her to perform sex acts on him.

The college student said that she was staying with some friends overnight and woke up to a man pressing a gun against her forehead. The victim claimed that the suspect forced her to perform oral sex on him and then stole cash and a cell phone before fleeing.

The terrified woman called 911 to report the alleged crime and was connected with a dispatcher who she said was less than sympathetic.

ABC News noted that the victim said she did not know the address of where she was and asked the dispatcher is she could locate her cell phone.

“No. We can’t. That’s why I need to know where you are,” the female dispatcher was heard saying.

The woman described the suspect as best she could, but the dispatcher needed more details and told her to ‘quit crying.’ She then allegedly told the caller that that the police would not be able to arrest him with the information she provided.

By that point, the already distressed victim had enough and went back at the dispatcher.

“Don’t you understand how horrified I am? I am a 20-year-old from Upper Arlington. I don’t know what you deal with every day, but the kind of sympathy you have is zero,” she told the 911 operator.

The dispatcher’s supervisors said that she will not be disciplined for her behavior during the call because the suspect was eventually caught.
