A 24-year-old woman has died from serious head injuries after accidentally walking into a plane propeller while working at a southwest Ohio skydiving facility.
According to ABC News and the Associated Press, co-workers say Rhoads went onto the tarmac to ask a pilot if he wanted food, but walked into the propeller of another plane that was idle nearby.
“It doesn’t get any worse than this,” said John Hart, owner of the skydiving company to Hamilton-Middletown Journal-News. “She was like a daughter. I loved that girl.”
Hart said it was the first time the business has had such an accident, but that plane propellers can be difficult to see sometimes.
"We will never forget Sarah," Hart said. "We want to celebrate her life."
The Federal Aviation Administration will be investigating the incident.
