An Oklahoma City man was arrested for allegedly beating his elderly father to death with a cane.
According to KOKH-TV, police arrived at a residence on Thursday to find Donald Ray Meyer’s father Theodore, badly beaten.
The 91-year-old victim was taken to a nearby hospital where he died of his injuries on Saturday.
Investigators have said that the younger Meyer attacked his father and that the injuries the man suffered from appeared to be consistent with that of being beat repeatedly with a cane. In addition, authorities said that evidence revealed that the deceased was also punched several times.
The 61-year-old son was initially arrested for domestic assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. However, Oklahoma City Jail records now show that he has been charged with first-degree murder and domestic violence with a dangerous weapon.
Authorities have not released if they have come up with a motive for the deadly attack.
Bail for Meyer has not yet been set.
